BOILERS

A boiler is essentially a pressure vessel into which water is fed and converted
to steam by the application of heat, usually provided by oil, natural gas, coal,
or wood. With the exception of microbial problems, boilers are subject to the
same problems as cooling systems face, that is, corrosion and scale formation.
However, in a boiler, the conditions are sometimes much more intense since the
rate of heat transfer in an ordinary boiler is much higher than in a cooling
system. The entire boiler process is concerned with the transfer of heat through
the conversion of water to steam.
BOILER TYPE
There are basically two types of boilers, both of which are manufactured in
different styles and sizes.
